Office creepers are people who sneak into office buildings to steal things. Often these thieves pretend to be employees by acting like they belong and entering otherwise secure entrances by following close behind an actual employee. Most people just assume the person behind them works in the same building, especially in large office buildings where it is impossible to recognize who is an employee and who isn’t.
Office creepers operate during normal office hours. They lift items from purses to laptops to cell phones from empty cubicles. They might even pick up unopened packages in shipping areas.
So, security guard monitoring entrances so pay careful attention to persons entering the building in close proximity to a badged employee, especially if the people don’t seem to be part of the same group. Requiring employees to prominently wear their employee identification badges helps security officers spot people without an employee badge.
